CARBON 2022
July 3rd-8th, 2022
After a 2 year absence, the British Carbon Group is delighted to invite you to the 21st edition of the World Conference on Carbon, to be held at Imperial College in the heart of London.
Since the first World Carbon Conference in 2000, scientists from around the globe have discussed and celebrated advancements in the field of ‘Carbon science and technology for greener future’ – together in-person, and we intend to continue that tradition in 2022.
We cannot wait to welcome you to London to discuss ‘Carbon for a cleaner future’.

It is a challenging task to convert the production of carbons to a sustainable /CO2 neutral production from 2050 on. It is promising route to use tire pyrolysis tars as new feedstock to improve the circularity of carbon blacks and reduce the CO2 footprint. The route is investigated in a public funded European research project called: Black Cycle » together with tire manufactures and tire pyrolysis companies as well research institutes. The new feedstocks (tire pyrolysis tar) differ substantially from existing carbon black oils. The low aromatic content of these oils makes it difficult to obtain the same colloidals of the carbon blacks. Nevertheless, test trials look promising performed on a pilot reactor. The presentation will focus on the challenges producing high performance blacks from sustainable resources.
